Beauty, Fairness, Justice

Beauty, Fairness, Justice

Red onion skins, Kandinsky said,
Surpass most things
In beauty — their beauty
Or fairness, as it’s called as well —
Fairness, which is also known
As justice, a balance,
a fair distribution —
And likewise injustice, unfairness
is ugly: the capsized ships of migrants,
And the thousands of bodies
of dolphins rotting
Up and down the coast of France,
The mussels on the coastal rocks,
Cooking in their shells from the heat,
The bleached reefs,
For what
The stripped seas?
How many onions can one person eat?
